| Rosemary Leach Biography Rosemary spent her childhood summers painting on a granite island on Georgian Bay. In early years she left teaching high school to follow her painting path. Her paintings touch on the theme of yielding to our surroundings. The emphasis of her subject matter is the spirit of everyday objects as they appear to her in a moment of quiet. The viewer's eye is attracted to what is unpolished; a dented old colander, a milk crate strapped to the back of a bicycle on a Montreal street, the custodian's sink in a school cupboard. The subject is developed on canvas, creating scenes that create a reflective mood, when we find ourselves relishing life's prosaic scenarios. Rosemary studied fine art at Queen's University and illustraction and pottery at Sheridan College. Rosemary lives with author Jacob Berkowitz along with their two growing teachers. |
